Inside The Makeup Drawers || Single Eyeshadows, Blushers, Highlighters
I'm addicted to buying makeup! I just love the feeling of using a new product and obviously it helps with the blog and stuff. A while ago I shared my Foundation Collection  and so today I thought i'd share another drawer from my makeup storage. It doesn't really have a name because it's a bit of everything, I had a clear out recently and managed to condense my collection significantly. It mainly features single shadows and a few highlighters.
Single shadows aren't really my thing, I much prefer eyeshadow palettes (you can see my collection here) but I do have a few. I bought two MAC Dazzledusts when they released, I don't wear them that much but they're nice for a special occasion. I also have MAC Satin Taupe which is a standard blogger shade and MAC Wedge as a brow shade. The copper NYX shade is a beautiful bold colour that is perfect for blue eyes. The Lord & Berry pink is a nice transition shade for a pinky red smokey eye. I also have a few of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos which are such good bases. They are cream eyeshadows so act as a good primer, they last all day and are really pigmented.
Next up is a selection of little bits and bobs that don't really have a 'home'. The NYX Roll On Glitter is a new purchase that featured in my NYX haul. The Billion Dollar Brow shadow used to be a firm favourite of mine. The colour is a perfect match but for now I've gone back to my trusty brow gel. Again, the Urban Decay Primer Potion used to belong in my makeup bag but i'm trying a new primer for now so this has been resigned to the drawers. Finally, there's 2 samples from Hourglass for contouring - there just isn't enough room in my base drawers for these to fit.
Continuing with the eyeshadows and I have 2 Kiko offerings, one single and one duo. The single is a beautiful light champagne colour which looks perfect on the inner corner. The Duo featured in my recent Beauty Haul, the two colours compliment each other so well. A few of my favourite blushers also belong in this drawer. The cream blushers from Bourjois are a summer must have, I've got the pink shade and then a coral. They apply so nicely and blend amazingly, I highly recommend this if you're looking for a cream blush. The Max Factor blush is another seasonal piece but this time for Autumn/Winter. The berry shade suits those dark lips that I can't wait to wear and a nice neutral eye. The Clinique Pop Blusher is something that I need to use way more often. The shade is so beautiful, I think i'm going to add this to my everyday makeup collection.
Finally we move on to highlighters, my love! Macs Strobe Cream is a product that I can't decide whether I love or not, it gives a nice glow but i'm not sure it does a lot. I just kind of feel like it's a waste of time but I like to use it when i'm having a no makeup makeup kind of day. Topshop Glow Pot is a firm favourite in the beauty world and it really is lovely, again it's a product I don't use enough. For a pale girl like me it gives a really subtle highlight, you can always add a powder to make it more glowing. The Balm's Mary Lou-Manizer is again another classic but i'm not sure if it's for me. Yes, it's really nice and it does give a lovely sheen to the cheekbones but it's just not enough for me. On the opposite end of the scale is the Becca Jaclyn Hill Highlighter in Champagne Pop. This is really not subtle but gives a gorgeous golden glow, my only issue with this is that the packaging isn't very sturdy-mine has shattered already :(!
The rest of my palettes, blushers, bronzers and highlighters belong in the beautiful rose gold basket that belongs on my dressing table but this post would be far to long to go into detail. I'll maybe save that for another post!

4 Nights In Disneyland Paris || Travel

So December was the best month of 2016 for me! Not only was it full with Christmas markets and cosy shopping trips, but it also meant I finished work for 19 days and got to relax and enjoy my Christmas break with friends and family. For 4 of those days, my boyfriend and I travelled to Disneyland Paris and celebrated the festivities with Mickey and Minnie!
We have been twice together in the past (I've posted a Tips To Make Disneyland Cheaper post if you want to see it) and absolutely love it. We are in no way Disney 'pros' but I just wanted to share my experience with you, basically so I can relive it again! We flew on Sunday with Jet2 straight into CDG airport, we booked a package holiday as we stay in the Relais Spa Chessey in Val d'Europe, which is literally 5 minutes drive from Disney. The rooms are lovely and all the staff are helpful, there's also a free shuttle to and from Disney (last one is at 11:00pm) which is an amazing service. Our flight landed at 8:30pm so we got a transfer (ZIP transfer) to the hotel and crashed out for the night!
As we have done both parks before, we thought we'd start with Walt Disney Studios. Obviously, we went at Christmas time so  the parks were really busy but we prepared for that before we went. It was pretty cold so we headed straight for the shops to pick up some Earmuffs and then to the Tower of Terror. The bigger rides were actually quieter, Crush's Coaster had a queue of 120 minutes pretty much the whole time. We spent the day soaking up the atmosphere and basically having fun. Lunch was a quick burger fix and we headed to Disney Village for tea and cocktails.
On Tuesday we went straight into Disney, we got up and ready for 9:00am and managed to beat a few of the queues. Big Thunder Mountain is one of my favourite rides and I was crazy excited that the new revamped version opened the day before our trip. Unfortunately, the ride did keep breaking down but luckily us 'fastpassers' managed to get on it without too much of a wait. Again, the rollercoasters had significantly less wait time, hello 5 minute queue for Indiana Jones! We booked Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show (the 6:30 pm showing) so we had that to look forward to. It was amazing and definitely worth it, I'll admit I was pretty tired before tea but it gave me a little energy boost! We then finished there, did a little bit of shopping and caught the Disney Dreams fireworks #magical
Our final full day was a kind of easier day! We floated about each park doing the rides we really wanted to do again. In the hotel the night before we decided we would just wait for rides we wanted to do again and really it went quite quick. The shuttle driver had said it was the busiest day he had seen in years so you can imagine the queues! We visited Earle of Sandwich for lunch which was incredible and The Rainforest Cafe for tea - it's quite a tradition of ours! It was really lovely to have a chill day and appreciate the beauty of Disney, we got a good look at all the decorations and really embraced the atmosphere.
Our final day was filled with shopping (#sephorahaul) and flying home :(! Disneyland was truly amazing and i'm already looking at a visit this year eek! The weather was pretty cold and the crowds were rather large but it just added to the atmosphere. Would I go again in December? I'm not sure, i'm aiming for October as I think that would be the perfect time of year.

What's your favourite holiday?

How I Edit My Pictures || Tips & Tricks

If you've read my 2017 Blog Goals post then you'll know that one of my aims for the year is to up my Instagram. One way I hope to do that is by improving my photography, alongside buying a fancy nancy camera (which you 100% don't need), there are also some amazing apps out there to help you! I use a mixture of camera (Nikon Coolpix L820) and Iphone 7 pictures and I can barely tell which picture was taken on what.
The main aim when I edit my pictures is to whiten and brighten my pictures. To whiten the images (you can see an example above) I use the app Facetune. This is one of those controversial apps but personally, I don't use it to edit selfies or pictures of actual faces. It has a whiten feature which allows you to whiten the background of the photo. You can see in the pictures above, that the second picture has a slight yellowish tinge which is caused by bad lighting. This app is amazing to use when natural light just isn't achievable, blooming winter!
After whitening my picture, I open Afterlight which allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, highlights and exposure. I turn the brightness up to a level that looks good, if the picture is taken in natural light than I don't turn up the brightness too much. This is the same for highlight, it really depends on the photo. For instagram photos I also add some exposure as it fits in with my 'theme' (you can see my tips for creating an instagram theme here). If i'm editing pictures purely for my blog than I use the program Picasa 3 which has very similar properties to the phone apps, it's just easier to use on a laptop!

Top Tips to Unwind and Relax

I've had a rubbish few months and sometimes life gets on top of me and I just need a break. I've mentioned lots of times that I'm a teacher and contrary to popular belief it isn't a 9-3 job. I'm at work by 7:20am and I work solidly until 7ish every night - also I'm not quite sure what a whole weekend is just yet either; that means that I really struggle with finding me time. However lately, I've made myself number 1 priority and have managed to find some weekly me time.
The first thing I like to do is run a nice bubbly bath. I've done 2 Lush hauls lately (here and here) and my need for me time is the driving force behind the splurges. There is nothing nicer than running a bath, adding in a bath bomb, locking the door and zoning out with candles and some spa music on. It instantly makes me feel 10 times more relaxed.
To go alongside the bath, I also like to look after my skin. My face is the first place to show if i'm feeling stressed or run down, I look similar to a dot to dot picture! I do a full pamper routine and finish with a face mask, I have several favourites but Elemis Fruit Active Rejuvenating Mask smells incredible.
Similar to looking after my face, I also find massages super relaxing. Unfortunately, I'm not on the income (no, teachers don't get paid loads either!) which allows regular massages so me and my boyfriend have a little compromise. We like to give each other hand massages using our current hand cream, this Zoella one has the most amazing smell and is definitely a good one for cosy nights.
Finally, a book is my perfect way to unwind. I like to start the night by watching Youtube videos but I can never fully switch off. Half an hour before bed I like to switch all my technology off and delve into a good chick lit. Sometimes if i'm really tired I bend the rules a little and listen to a podcast. Anything to do with music, tv, fashion or crime and it usually has me hooked. There are also some really good podcasts that help with sleep too.

Benefit They're Real Big Sexy Lip Kit || Review

Benefit always seems to be one step ahead of the game, they seem to bring out the newest launches months before the rest of the industry catch up. Benefit's They're Real Big Sexy Lip Kit is no different, it's an addition to the They're Real collection which features the famous mascara that everyone loves.Benefit They're Real Big Sexy Lip Kit || Review

Benefit They're Real Big Sexy Lip Kit || Review
The Big Sexy Lip Kit comes with 4 different lip shades, the best thing about these lipsticks though is that each lipstick comes with an in built lip liner! As you can see from the pictures below, the nib is split into two. The fatter side is the actual lipstick shade and the thinner, pointy shade is the lip liner. At first, I was confused as to how you apply them but it really is simple. You use the pointy end to draw round your lips and then spin the nib and use the other side to fill in your lips. Benefit claim that these give you visibly fuller and sexier lips - they definitely do make your lips appear slightly fuller especially if you over draw them slightly.

The four shades are Flame Game which is a reddy lip liner and than an orange lipstick. The two shades look like they wouldn't compliment each other at all but they work so nicely together. Pink Thrills has a dark purple lip liner and a muave pink lipstick, this is the perfect nudey colour that will leave you with that slightly darker lip liner and nudey lip combo made famous by Jamie GenevieveRevved-Up Red has a true red lip liner teamed with a bright pink - again it sounds awful together but looks beautiful. Finally there's Lusty Rose which is the most natural of all four shades. This really reminds me of Mac's Soar and Mehr lip liner and lipstick combo that really took off this year.

The price of the Lip Kit is £24.50 and for four Benefit lipsticks I think this is pretty cheap. The quality is brilliant, they aren't drying and give a slight hydration to the lips which is what I look for in a lipstick. They are slightly smaller than your average lipstick but again, you have to think that they do technically also include a lip liner! What is your favourite Benefit product?

HP Sprocket

One of the many presents I received for Christmas (you can see my posts here and here) was this little gadget. The HP Sprocket was hyped just before Christmas when Zoella talked about it on her channel. I'd also seen several other bloggers mention it or feature it on their insta's! I quickly added it my list and luckily my boyfriend picked this up in the Black Friday sale.
Basically this little piece of equipment is a hand held printer for photos. It prints pictures from your phone/iPad/tablet in minutes. All you need is a photo, printer paper (£10 for 20 sheets) and a device that can connect via Bluetooth. Firstly, load the paper, it comes with clear instructions so you can't mess up, and then download the Sprocket app.  Join your phone and the HP Sprocket via bluetooth and then turn it on.
Open the app and find the picture you want to print. Here you can edit the picture, add frames and decorate it with stickers or whatever you want. Simply click the print button and viola, job done! Don't be worried if your first picture prints out blank, it has to get rid of the first sheet of printer paper. Simply just print your wanted picture again.
The Sprocket is not only handy and extremely clever (hello, where is the ink!?) but it also looks beautiful. HP have really got it right with the sleek white and copper design, it's a bloggers dream right? It instantly looks recognisable and looks beautiful on the old 'gram. As you can see from the pictures, I love the Polaroid style frame - it looks so classic and old school.
I'm currently thinking (stalking Pinterest) of ways to display my photos so if you have any ideas please let me know. My vote is currently going to string and pegs against my white wall!

2016 Beauty Favourites

2016 has been quite the year, it's had its ups and its down but throughout the 12 months my love for all things beauty has developed further. All but one and a bit of these favourites where discovered at some point this year and I've remained loyal (mostly) to them all since their unearthing!
The Wet Brush was recommended to me by my hairdresser and I haven't used another thing since buying this. I purchased this on one of my many Beauty Bay hauls in 2016, it's so tender and does very little damage to the hair. I have long, thick, bleached hair and this really has helped with the condition and treatment of my hair. YSL Black Opium is a scent I received for Christmas 2015 (you can see what I received this year, here and here) and I love it, it's the perfect mixture of floral and seductive and easily wearable for any circumstance. I usually wear this if I have plans after work as it's suitable for both occasions and lasts all day. 2016 was the year I discovered the Beauty Blender however, call me controversial but I much prefer the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge it does such a good job of evenly blending foundation whilst giving the perfect amount of coverage. I've gone through at least 4 of these throughout the year. Another favourite is the MAC Lipstick in Faux which is the perfect nudey pink. Obviously i'm not loyal to lipstick, lipstick is my thing but this is the shade I always go back to. I keep it in my makeup bag for everyday use as it suits all makeup.
Another item I have repurchased 3 times in 2016 is the YSL Touche Eclat Foundation. This is the most amazing foundation, the coverage is amazing and it lasts all day on the skin. I always make sure to pick this up in the airport as it's a tiny bit cheaper (you can see my Duty Free Haul here). It lasts around 2 and a half to 3 months which is amazing, definitely my holy grail foundation. The Lee Stafford Poker Straight Heat Protection Spray is an oldie but a goodie. It smells incredible and does a good job of protecting my hair, now that it has more blonde at the end it's super important to keep it in good condition. Finally, there's a 2 in 1 favourite - I discovered Makeup Geek Eyeshadows (you can see my collection here), they are amazing! For around £5 they are pigmented, long lasting and come in a lot of shades! I haven't bought another single eyeshadow from any brand since I've discovered MUG. I've also been loving the Z Palette too, it's the perfect way to store single shadows without paying £££!

What have you been loving throughout 2016?

2017 Goals

2016 was a rubbish year! In terms of economy, politics and death, it was atrocious. I for one will be glad to see the back of it and I hope that, dare I say it, 2017 will be my year! There are a lot of personal goals I want to achieve in 2017 but for now I'm going to keep them irl, this post is purely going to be about blog goals.
I've been blogging now for 4 years and I've had my fair share of ups and downs. Over the years, I've slowly grown my audience across all my social platforms and I hope this continues in 2017. Ive fallen out of love with blogging several times throughout the years, 'real life' got in the way too much and I just felt like student-stylexo wasn't fun anymore. I'm hoping that this year I can try and be consistent, especially now that I've waved goodbye to student-stylexo and become meganlucyy. This change has been long over due! I haven't been a student for 3 years and I no longer blog about style, meganlucyy is going to remain prodominately beauty focused but I now feel like I can branch out and try my hand at different genres.
I also really want to grow my Instagram this year. Everyone talks about the struggles on Insta and I feel their pain. It's such a hard platform to grow followers on, you gain 3 and lose 10. I dread checking my stats in a morning because I can guarantee that regardless of how many I've gained, I'll probably have lost around 4. I'm hoping to post every day or at least every other day from now on. I have create a theme (you can see my tips for creating a theme here) and hope this continues and grows, it can be quite hard to maintain but I love the look and I have a personal instagram anyway.
I don't have too many goals for my blog, I'm one of those people who can't handle failure so if I set too many and fail, my motivation for them all will run quickly away. So expect to see more (fingers crossed) content on my blog and Instagram over the year. What are your goals for 2017?
