Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation Review & Swatches
I've owned the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation for at least 2 months and there's probably been about 7 days when I haven't worn it- that is how much I love it. I was lucky enough to buy this from QVC and it included the Double Ended Foundation brush which retails on Sephora for $34 - I got the pair of them for £34!
At first I worried the shade was too dark for me but I actually love the way it looks on my skin. It's definitely a medium coverage foundation but it is buildable, I've worn this on a night out and it looks beautiful. As with many foundations I do find I have to powder - damn you oily skin but now i've found my holy grail powder this isn't a problem. I've found the best way to apply it for me is with the double ended foundation brush, using the fuller size. It's very similar to a buffing brush but nothing at all like a Beauty Blender which is usually my go to. It blends really nice and doesn't settle into pores or dry patches. My only criticism is the packaging - well not so much how it looks. We can all agree it looks beautiful but the application is so bloody tricky. When you unscrew the lid you are greeted with a pipet style applicator. I understand why, this is a water based foundation and no lid would equal a lot of mess and a pump would probably dispense too much product but it doesn't make it any easier to use. In order to get enough product, I shake the bottle; squeeze the top presser thing (description is definitely my strong point here), open the lid and then dispense the product on to the brush. I find one 'drop' does one side of my face then I like half a 'drop' to perfect everything.
This lasts forever on the skin - I mean forever. It's one of the best foundations I've tried for longevity - it's my new work base of choice. I love teaming this with my Mimosa highlight shade from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Palette (reviewed here). Teamed with a nudey brown lip , it's fast becoming my favourite go to makeup.

  1. This sounds like a really fab foundation - one to try for sure, love the way it looks on you!
