Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea || Hallmark Hotel Review
This may just be the cutest post I've ever written and one that I couldn't wait to write. A few weeks ago my lovely Hull Blogger pals and I were invited to review the Alice In Wonderland themed Afternoon Tea at the Hallmark Hotel. I'm a massive afternoon tea fan and I have to admit i'm quite partial to a bit of Alice in Wonderland too. We decided to arrange it as a surprise to fellow Hull Blogger and Alice in Wonderland enthusiast Kate and boy did we do well.
We picked the nicest day (I definitely caught the sun on just one shoulder) and when we arrived the lovely staff had rearranged out table so we could sit outside. The view is breath taking, the balcony looks out onto the Humber Bridge - the hotel is definitely a hidden gem in Hull. Our table was set out beautifully, covered in playing cards and bunny ears for the 5 of us. We also had the nicest tea cups and ornaments which added to the Alice theme. We were greeted with a glass of fizz and some water and once we'd all arrived the afternoon tea was ordered!
There is definitely something for everyone:
Assorted finger sandwiches/wraps: Ham & Pickle, Cucumber & Cream Cheese, Cheese & Chutney & Egg Mayo & Rocket
Home Made Mushroom meringues
Savoury Scotch Egg and Boiled Egg/Tomato Toadstool
Eat Me popping candy cupcake
Freshly baked Scones and Strawberry Jam, Lemon Curd & Devonshire clotted cream
Strawberry ‘Drink Me’ Syrup
Popping Candy
Pot of Tea or Coffee
but it was the cakes and the 'Drink Me' syrup that got me. They were insane, I'll definitely be dreaming about them in the future. It costs £17.50 and is 100% worth it, the afternoon was the nicest I'd had in a long time.
We were well and truly looked after, the staff were always asking if we needed anything else and the lovely waitress offered to take a picture for us which was nice. The chef came and chatted to us too which was a nice touch - he did an amazing job. The food not only tasted amazing but looked delicious too, it definitely attracted the attention of other guests! I think this would be the perfect gift for mums, grandmas and sisters but also a lovely occasion to have a catch up with friends etc. I'm looking forward to booking again and taking my mum as I'm sure she would love it - that drink is not something that can only be tasted once!
Thank you for having us and looking after us so well Hallmark Hotels, it was amazing! Thank you to Alex, Ashton, Kate and Heather it was so nice catching up with you. There's lots of pictures on Twitter and Instagram using the #madhatterafternoontea - it's definitely instagram worthy!

  3. This looks absolutely amazing and, as stupid as it sounds, how cute is the way that it's presented? We don't have any quirky afternoon teas around us - maybe I'll have to look into making a trip!
