Disneyland Paris || Tips To Make It Cheaper

In May 2015, my boyfriend and I jetted off to Disneyland Paris. We've been together nearly 6 years and this was our first holiday abroad we've been on just the two of us. We're not massive sun worshippers so we decided Disneyland would be the perfect destination. I am by no means and expert (there are definitely some out there so if you're looking for my specific advice then give it a quick google) but I thought i'd share with you some tips we've found to save money.
Disneyland Paris

1// Speak to a travel agent
We booked through Thomas Cook which was the cheapest option for us. Go in with a budget in mind but be prepared to go up or down slightly if you can. If you're not fussy, you can probably do it cheaper then we did but neither of us wanted to go by coach. We've both been to Paris on a coach before and for us, it really isn't worth it. We flew with Jet2 but check out the Eurostar for a slightly cheaper option.

2// Book in advance
If you can, I've mentioned several times that i'm a teacher so my holidays are set. Only being able to go away in the school holidays means it's really expensive so if you can book in advance you can save around £200 due to special offers etc. Some of the offers you can get for booking in advance are brilliant, 5 nights for the price of 3, kids eat free etc.

3// Staying in Disneyland isn't always the best option
Baring in mind, we went to book about 10 weeks before we wanted to go availability for Disney hotels was slim. The main hotel actually in Disneyland was coming up at £2500 for 3 nights (cray cray) and the others which are a 5 minute walk were around £1500. At first, we were really upset we couldn't stay in Disney itself but after searching for hotels in Paris, we've found a beautiful one, under budget and much more suited to us and it's a 5 minute Metro ride to Disney and the Metro station is just across the street. When we got to the hotel we realised they actually run a shuttle to Disney whenever you need from 8am-11pm!

4// Plan
This sounds silly but Disneyland Paris is expensive. A hot dog in the park is around 10 euros which is pretty pricey. We had 2 full days in Disneyland and one and a half days in Paris. The two days in Disney was where we spent the most money but it was definitely worth it. We always got Option 3 at any of the fast food places, that meant we got a burger/hotdog/chicken bites, chips, a drink and then usually an ice cream. This kept us going for the whole day and we spent less on snacks. We also planned on going to The Rainforest CafĂ© (21 euros for 2 courses) as our 'treat' but because we planned we went all out and had an amazing meal! We decided to plan our restaurants so we know how much money we need for food.

5// Buy beforehand
The best way to save money is to buy the classic Disney themed items before you go. One look at the Disneyland website shows how expensive it is. Simple Minnie Mouse ears can be as expensive as 16.99 euros, a quick look on Amazon shows that you can get the same pair for £2.50! I know I didn't want to waste my money just to say I bought them in Paris. Primark also has lots of Disney themed purchases at a fraction of the price.

Jo Malone Collection

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay, Earl Grey & Cucumber and Woodsage & Seasalt Perfume

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay, Earl Grey & Cucumber and Woodsage & Seasalt Perfume

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay, Earl Grey & Cucumber and Woodsage & Seasalt Perfume
Jo Malone is a brand I lusted after for so long, I love the packaging, the scent and the luxury associated with the perfumes. I was lucky enough to receive one for my 21st birthday and my collection has grown just a little since then.
The first scent I received was the famous Wood Sage & Sea Salt. This is a favourite my most bloggers and I can certainly see why. It's different then anything I've ever smelt before, it's more sophisticated than my usual scent with a woody under note. Next up is my favourite, Earl Grey & Cucumber which is much more citrusy. It literally smells exactly how it sounds but somehow it works. I like to mix these two scents together sometimes, they compliment each other so nicely.
My newest addition is Blackberry & Bay, it's much fruity then the other two. It does have a very slight woody under tone making it sophisticated yet fun. So far, this one doesn't last as long as the other two scents but that definitely isn't a criticism as the scents last all day anyway!

Sephora Haul

Sephora Haul - Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Kit, Sunday Riley Power Duo and Becca Champagne Pop

A Sephora haul has been on the cards for a while now. At least twice a month I find myself pondering on the website adding things to my basket and then quickly taking them out again! Finally, after receiving some Christmas money I took the plunge and placed an order.

First up is the Becca with Jaclyn Hill Highlighter in Champagne Pop which was the main reason for the order. I'd spent far too long stalking the Champagne Pop hashtag on Instagram and watching tutorials which feature this beauty that I knew I had to buy it. It's the most goldy highlighter I own and at first I was pretty worried it would look silly on my skin but it really doesn't - don't be put off! I read a lot of reviews which said it's easy to go over board so I use the Zoeva Lux Fan Brush 129 to apply it without going OTT.

Next up is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Palette in Fair. Again, i'd spent far too long lusting after this palette that I finally took the plunge. The Fair shade is perfect for my pale skin, it doesn't look obvious or fake at all. I've been watching lots of tutorials to really up my contouring skills but so far i'm loving it!

Finally I've heard so much about Sunday Riley but I've always been put off by the price tag. This Power Couple set was $79 and i'm really impressed with the size! After i'd made the order I worried that they'd come and be the tinyest things ever but they really aren't - thankfully. I haven't really trailed them enough to give them a full review but keep your eyes peeled.

How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

Baby Shampoo, Soap & Glory massage mit and brushes to clean
Hands up who enjoys cleaning makeup brushes!? Well I certainly don't, I don't enjoy it which means I very rarely do it and I know that isn't good. My water either gets super hot after about 2 minutes or I have to spend 30 minutes with my hands under ice cold water, sloshing baby oil and foundation stains around my frozen palms. If that sounds like you, i'd like to introduce you to my new saviour - The Soap and Glory Massage mitt.
I got this idea from Lily Pebbles (I think) and it is genius! I literally apply a small dollop of Johnson' Baby Oil onto the mitt, rub my brush into it and water and repeat until the water runs clear. As well as saving my frozen hands it also does a really good job of getting deep into the brush, giving it a thorough clean throughout. I'm hoping this new 'gadget' will encourage me to wash my brushes more in 2016.

Mac Antique Velvet Lipstick || Review

Mac Antique Velvet Lipstick
My lipstick tastes are changing! Don't get me wrong, I love Candy Yum Yum and Viva Glam Miley Cyrus as much as the next person but recently I've been reaching for much darker, vampy shades - think Rebel and Mehr.  It's probably the time of year but I definitely have a lot of love for these colours lately. Recently, I saw a girl in New Look wearing the most beautiful dark browny, red shade and I had to know what it was; it's Antique Velvet by Mac FYI. My boyfriend kindly bought it for me for Christmas and i'm in love.
Mac Antique Velvet Lipstick
This is definitely a shade that needs a lip liner, Mac Burgundy goes perfectly to ensure that it stays on all day and doen't bleed out of the lines. I've found it best to apply the liner, then use a lip brush to pack the colour on to the lips, finally applying the lipstick straight from the bullet once the colour is nearly opaque.
I have super pale skin and I personally think this shade suits my skin but I've also seen lots of tutorials on Youtube of people with darker skin tones too and it suits them. I'd pair it with a neutral eye or a brown smoky eye depending on the occasion but don't be worried that because it's a bold lip, you can't rock a bold eye at the same time!

Urban Decay Haul

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, Naked Skin Concealer and De-slick Setting Spray

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, Naked Skin Concealer and De-slick Setting SprayUrban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, Naked Skin Concealer and De-slick Setting Spray
I must admit apart from the three Naked Palettes I haven't really ventured into the deep realms of Urban Decay until now. The Naked Smoky Palette is hands down my favourite of all the Palettes, the shades just suit me so much better. I am in love with huge range of different looks you can get from one palette. I will say the grey/blue tones (Slanted and Dagger) don't suit my skin tone as much as the others but 10 out of 12 shades isn't bad! The packaging is also my favourite out of them all, its sturdy and safe; perfect for travelling and it's also oh so satisfying as the magnetic device clicks together.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer has been on the want list for quite some time. Any favourite of Lily Pebbles is usually a favourite of mine. I'd just ran out of my trusty Mac Pro Longwear Concealer and thought i'd give this a try. It's perfect for under the eyes as it's super brightening but i'm also really happy with the coverage for spots and red areas. Normally if it works under the eyes it doesn't cover spots but this is an exception to the rule.
Finally, the De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray is a want list favourite! Anything that makes my makeup last longer is a winner for me and I've heard a lot of good things about this. I decided to get the Oil Control version to make sure the shine is kept completely at bay.

My Slimming World Tips

I joined Slimming World in October '15 and so far I've lost a stone and a half. I still have around about another stone until my target but i'm personally hoping to lose another half a stone on top of that too. Slimming World isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. That sound's really cheesy and cringey but it really is, I came 'off plan' at Christmas and boy could I tell. I'm not saying I don't have treats every now and then, believe me I do but for the majority of the week I stick to the Extra Easy Plan religiously.
The picture on the left is me in December and the picture on the right is me 1.5st heavier in August
I've decided not to go into the details about Slimming World - give it a quick google or a search on Instagram and you can find tonnes of information to get you started. Instead, i'm going to share my top 5 tips for losing weight on Slimming World:

1. Write down everything you eat, or at least the amount of syns you have every day.
I just use the notes section on my phone to write down the amount of syns I have per day. I'll put the weigh I was on Tuesday's weigh in, then list the days and fill it in as I go. I like doing this because if I've had a couple of low syn days and I need a lift I can use the remaining syns to do so.
2. Go to each Weigh in even if you think you haven't lost.
There has been plenty of times I've thought i'd put on 1lbs or so, gone to group and actually lost. It makes it feel much better knowing you've actually lost even when you think you haven't. Also, if you do put on it's written down and that works as a huge motivator for me. I go with my mum and we very rarely stay for the group session after but we also make it to weigh in.
3. Don't deprive yourself too much.
As I mentioned in tip 1, you can use your syns for the week all in one go. Lots of people save them for alcohol or a chocolate fix. I like to save them for meals out, I love going out for food. I enjoy good food but I also enjoy the social factor so this has definitely been the hardest part of SW. But if I know i'm going out or there's something where food will be involved coming up I make sure I sacrifice I couple of syns at the beginning of the week. Every little helps and I know that having low syns days and going out twice a month is much better for me than the amount of rubbish I was eating before I joined SW.
4. Try and go with a friend, family member or make friends with someone in your group.
As I mentioned in tip 2, I go to SW with my mum. We both motivate each other and I have to admit it's so much easier to stay on plan when your mum makes your tea ha! Buying healthy foods can be pretty expensive so it's nice to share that with someone and know that you're not wasting a lot of food. I joined my SW's facebook page and I know lots of people are now really good friends because of group so it's definitely easy to meet people there who can encourage and motivate you.
5. Follow as many SW accounts on instagram as possible.
This was something I did before I joined to get my head around it and to see the amazing results some people have had. I can spend hours scrolling through the #slimmingworld posts. Following accounts not only gives you motivation and encouragement but it can also help with meal plan ideas, new recipes and different ways of eating, making and enjoying the foods that Slimming World suggests we eat the most of!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit || Review

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit - £65
Ah, the stuff of dreams! If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know i'm a full blown Hourglass addict, so there was definitely no doubt in anyone's mind that the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit would be mine. I was lucky enough to receive this from Christmas from my mum and dad, luckily the lady at my nearest Hourglass Counter rang us to reserve this until we could come and collect it.
This palette consists of 6 different powders and a huge mirror which means it's perfect for travelling. The powders are so finely milled and illuminating that they are 100% worth the price tag. The top row has 3 of their famous Ambient Lighting Powders; Dim Light, Iridescent Light and Diffused Light. I haven't found the perfect use for Dim Light yet but the other two are everyday staples already! The bottom row has two Ambient Lighting Blushes; Mood Exposure and Luminous Flush. I own both of them separately but it's nice to have them in a handy palette. The finally shade is the newest release - Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light. I was slightly worried that this would be too dark for my extremely pale skin but it's actually a really nice match. It has a small amount of sparkle in it which doesn't make it the best for contouring but with a little hand and a bit of blending its leaves a lovely, warm glow to the face.

Lush Christmas Gifts

Lush Christmas Gift Sets

Lush Christmas Candy Set

Lush Having A Blast Gift Set
Who can resist Lush at Christmas? Definitely not me and several other #bbloggers I've seen on twitter recently! One of these gift sets I received as a present, the other I bought in the 'sale'. Now before I start I wanted to talk about the infamous Lush sale. So I've heard all gift sets are half price on Boxing Day - with this in mind I headed into Lush in Meadowhall with high hopes, only to be told that unless it was made before September it's full price. Just a heads up for anyone who like me, didn't know that little rule.
The Christmas Candy Box was bought for me by my lovely boyfriend, it's full of all my favourites plus the Rock Star Soap which I haven't yet tried. I love how cute the packages are for the Christmas sets, they just make everything look so much more tempted. I bought myself the Having a Blast set purely because I liked the look of the Rub Rub Rub Body Scrub in the bar. If you've read this post then you'll know I love the original Rub Rub Rub but this has an added cherry scent to it for Christmas.

My New Blogging Schedule and A Review of 2015

So 2015 has been one heck of a year, I passed my NQT year at work, went on two holidays and basically had an absolute blast! I'm going to share with you my favourite photo's of 2015 (this is going to be very photo heavy post) but before I do that I thought i'd update you on my new blogging schedule - fingers crossed I can stick to it. I'm hoping to blog every Sunday and Wednesday for the foreseeable future, I have enough posts planned from now until February half term when I should be able to write some more to last until the Easter holidays.
2015
I had the best weekend ever at Dalby forest completing Go Ape and spending my birthday weekend in a hot tub!

I visited Disneyland Paris with my boyfriend and had the most amazing time, ever! Disney is definitely my happy place.

I survived a whole year of teaching and passed my NQT year. I also made some amazing friends, include my bestest friend in the world!

Me, my boyfriend, my mum and dad took a family holiday to Casares in Spain, it was one of the best holidays I've had. It was a week full of food, drink, good company and plenty of sunshine!
I spent some lovely time with my favourite blogging girls! The beautiful Ashton also joined our Hull Bloggers crew - here's to more get time spent together in 2016!
I joined Slimming World in around October and have lost 1 and a half stone so far. I'm hoping to lose around another stone to achieve my target!

Obviously Christmas this year had to be included. It was planned to be pretty quiet and I worried that would mean rubbish but I was pleasantly surprised. I've had the perfect festive period which sums up 2015 exactly.
