Beauty Battle #05 || Powder Blusher

Illamasqua Powder Blush in Katie, Natural Collection Blush in Melba and NYX Blush in Pinky Illamasqua Powder Blush in Katie, Natural Collection Blush in Melba and NYX Blush in Pinky
Illamasqua Powder Blush in Katie, Natural Collection Blush in Melba and NYX Blush in Pinky Swatches
Illamasqua Powder Blush in Katie, Natural Collection Blush in Peach Melba and NYX Blush in Pinky

So I have an unhealthy obsession with blushers, and it seems to get worse when that pesky sun starts shining. Powder or cream variety, if it goes on your cheeks then chances are i'll have it in my collection. I've already compared my three different priced cream blushes Poo so now Ive decided to review three powder blushes all with a slight change in price...

Illamasqua Powder Blush in Katie - £21.50
I'll start with the most expensive blusher simply because this is my most favourite shade. The super pale, barely there pink suits my deathly pale skin tone perfectly. It's the perfect 'flushed' shade which makes it look really natural. The powder doesn't feel like powder, it's really velvety and kind of creamy. It sticks to the cheek and lasts all done which is something I rarely find with a powder blush. It's really pigmented but because of the pale shade it takes a lot of work to make it look too false. The new Seventeen cheek stamps have a really similar shade but this is definitely worth splashing out on simply for the longevity and the pigmentation.

Natural Collection Blush in Peach Melba - £1.99
For the bargain price of £1.99, I give to you, ladies and gentlemen the best dupe to Mac's Melba blush that you can find. Firstly, the names are pretty identical and then the shade is pretty much the same. This is a natural pink that can be worn as a contour on really pale girls like myself. I own both this and Mac Melba and honestly don't know which I prefer. These blushes have really good pigmentation and staying power. I love the colour this gives to the cheeks and it's always a really good size to throw in your makeup bag for top ups.

NYX blush in Pinky - £6
This is the newest addition to my blusher collection but one that I've really grown to love. It's a really bright pink, much different to the other two shades but still really velvety and long lasting. You do have to be careful with this blush as a little really does go along way. You can end up looking a little doll like, believe me. I've never really tried NYX before but after buying this (and a lipgloss) i'm definitely intrigued to buy more. They are super affordable and I think they give other more expensive brands a run for their money.

Overall, I really like all three blushers. There each a different shade but they are all equally as nice. As much as I love the Illamasqua blush I wouldn't say there was a huge difference between that and the Natural Collection blush, especially considering it's 10x the price!! If you're looking for a treat then definitely splash out but for regular day to day wear, the drugstore wins for me!

What's you favourite blush brand?

Today's post is one I never thought i'd be writing, and if I did find myself writing it I never thought it would be in 2014. At the beginning of the year I created a page with all my 2014 goals. One of those goals was to make 300-400 bloglovin followers this year and if you haven't guessed by the title I've just reached 500 (555 to be precise) which is absolutely insane.

To celebrate, I've decided to hold a giveaway with four Makeup Revolution products (all of which I own) just as a sort of thank you to my lovely readers. I'm so grateful that 500+ of you read my little blog and take the time out of your day to comment and like my posts, it's unimaginable to think my blog has grown so much in such a short space of time.

Now, on to the products. Firstly, i'll start with the Romantic Smoked eyeshadow palette which contains 12 gorgeous, pigmented shades. This is my everyday work palette as the colours are so wearable. Next up is the much raved about Blush Lacquer in heart. We also have another blusher, this time it's in the shade Now! and finally a lipstick in the shade The One. I own all four of these and love every single one of them so I really hope you do to.

The Rules
1) You must be over 16 to enter and be living in the UK.

The Lip Product Addict || TAG

The Lip Product Addict
If there was ever a tag made with me in mind, then this would be it. I have a slight addiction to lip products so  when I watched the Essie Button and Amelia Liana video version I knew I had to do it. One night on twitter, myself and the beautiful Aimee (aimeelovesx) decided we'd do the video tag in a post form so here goes...

1) Favourite balm or treatment
For this, I've chosen both a balm and a treatment because I love them both equally. For my treatment I have the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub. This is the perfect exfoliator for dry lips, plus it tastes amazing. I used to these every day but since my lips are in much better condition now I aim for twice a week. My treatment has to be the EOS Lipbalm in Strawberry. I reviewed this here so you can check out my more in depth thoughts, but basically it's brilliant.

2) Best eye catching red
This was a super easy one for me, it has to be Mac's Russian Red. The colour just suits my pale skin perfectly. I also love the blue undertones because they make my teeth look much whiter and the matte finish means it stays in place all day. It isn't drying on the lips either but the colour pay off and longevity really is amazing.

3) Best Luxury and Best Drugstore
So for luxury I went for the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain Lip Stain (reviewed here). I have so much love for this lipstick, it's the perfect amount of glossiness and colour and the longevity rivals anything else I own. I love how the glossiness stays on even after a full dinner (including drinks). Ps the packaging is b-e-a-u-tiful too! For drugstore I have to pick the Revlon Matte and Lacquer Colourburst balms. These are my go to lipsticks for every day wear. I love both the matte finish and the lacquer finishes and the colour range is amazing. My two favourites are Elusive and Demure.

4) Best MAC lipstick
Without a doubt Rebel, I love how diverse this is. It's my go to colour in the Autumn and Winter but it's also wearable in the warmer months with some light application and some blotting. The finish and feel of it on the lips is lovely too, again it isn't drying and gives just the right amount of hydration that makes it last.

5) Most disappointing product
This is a hard one and the product I've picked isn't exactly disappointing, it's just not what I was expecting. I went for Illamasqua's Immodest lipstick. The colour is absolutely beautiful, it's a shocking, bright, Barbie pink (the picture doesn't do it justice) but it's just so so drying. It literally clings to every dry part of your lip, you need some seriously good exfoliation to wear this.

6) Liner - yes or no?
Quick and simple - if i'm wearing a bold lip, yes. If not then no.

7) Best gloss
I've gone for two drugstore lipglosses simply because I don't own any high end ones except for one. I have too much love for Revlon Lipgloss in Adorned (reviewed here) the shade is just gorgeous. I've also really been enjoying the Maybelline Coloursensational High-Shine Lipgloss these are really natural looking but add a little hint of colour too. I love that they aren't sticky, which means they are perfect for work.

8) Something extra
For my something extra I thought i'd give a little nod to liquid lipsticks - 2 in particular. I'm way late on the band wagon with the Rimmel Apocolips but they really are fantastic products. Big Bang is a beautiful, vibrant red which lasts all night. I love the formula of these, they have a matte finish but are really hydrating and moisturising. Finally, my newest lip product is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in the shade Pink Pong. You've probably heard so much about these so i'll keep it short, basically the colour range is amazingly bright and the colour pay off is ridiculous. They last for so long and they are super pigmented that you're good to go in one coat!

I tag you all to do this :)!

Get To Know My Reading Habits || TAG

1. What is your favourite book?
Johnny Be Good by Paige Toon - I've literally read it 10 times, it just never gets old.

2. Who is your favourite author?
Paige Toon without a doubt. I've read all of her books and they are all my favourites, I'm really liking C.S Stephens at the minute too. Ooh, Lindsay Kelk is brilliant too.

3. What genre do you prefer?
I'm all about girly chick flicks, anything with a good old love story in it will be perfect for me.

4. What is your favourite book series?
It's more of a sequel than a series but Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine are by far the best. I also really enjoyed the Hunger Games Triology, the I Heart series and i'm ashamed to admit it but Fifty Shades of Grey (but not for the writing, that was rubbish).

5. What books did you hate reading in school?
Er, I probably enjoyed them at school but looking back I have no idea how reading books with Biff and Chip in were entertaining!

6. What is the first book you remember reading as a child?
The Tiger Who Came For Tea, my mum read it to be first when I was a baby and then I remember reading it to my mum every night before bed.

7. Bookstores or libraries?Book shop, simply because I love the smell of new books and I like to keep the books I've read so that I can re-read them, especially if they're good ones.

8. How many books do you own?
I couldn't even tell you. I have two huge storage boxes full of books and now I have a Kindle with so many books on.

9. Do you read before bed?
Yep, I've just recently got back in to read more and that's the perfect time to catch up. I love that my Kindle has a backlight so it's perfect for reading in the dark.

10. What is your most comfortable reading position?I love laying on my side in bed but my arm usually goes numb, so i'll say sitting up on the sofa.

11. What is the most recent book you've read?
I've just finished Thoughtless by C.S Stephens and now i'm reading the second instalment Effortless.

12. What quote from any book will you never forget and why?
It's strange how the people you care about least, sometimes know you the best. You let your guard down with them because you don't mind that they see you, warts and all." - Paige Toon Chasing Daisy.

13. Science fiction or fantasy?
Fantasy I think.

14. What books do you regret reading?
Erm, none I don’t think. I don’t finish books if I can’t get in to them so I must have enjoyed them at some point.

15. How large is your bookshelf?
I don't own a bookshelf, but my collection is massive. When I get my own house I’m definitely going to have a bookshelf though.

16. On average, how many books do you read per year?
A lot, in the summer I can read several books a week so definitely more than 20.

17. What book can you read hundreds of times and never get tired of?
Johnny Be Good, it really is amazing.

18. Do you like to read outside?
Yep, although I find it really hard to lay down and read in the garden.

19. What is the biggest lesson you've learned from a book?
That reading is such a good way to pass a couple of hours and can be amazing for relaxation.

20. Of the past year, what is the greatest book you've read?
The Secret Life of Jessie Jefferson, Paige Toon’s first YA novel.

Makeup Revolution Lip Lacquer || Review and Swatches - Guest Post

This is my third post in my Makeup Revolution series and I'm really pleased that I've had the chance to post it on the amazing student-stylexo! Today's review is for their Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer which I have in the shade 'What I Believe'.

When I saw this on the Makeup Revolution website there was no way that I could not order a lacquer to try as I'm in the grip of a serious matte lips obsession at the moment. This lip lacquer applies as a very pigmented liquid lipstick and quickly dries to a matte finish. The applicator is pretty standard for a lipstick or gloss but is easy to work with and allows you to get precision application - something you'll need because the colour payoff is excellent.

'What I Believe' is a peachy pink that swatches darker on my hand than it appears on the lips - I'll post a shot of the product on below. I'm not too sure if this colour suits me or not - I think it would work really well with a smokey eye for evening but it's a little off for daytime wear.

You can feel the lip lacquer as it dries on your lips but it's not an uncomfortable sensation and I soon forgot that I was wearing this product. The closest product I can compare this too is Max Factor's Lipfinity so if you've tried that hopefully you know the feeling I'm trying to describe.

Like Lipfinity, once Salvation Lip Lacquer is applied then it ain't gonna budge! I can apply this in the morning, make my way through cups of tea, much talking, lunch and yet more tea and still have a decent looking lip at the end of the day. The product is a little drying for long term wear but a slick of clear lip balm over the top solves this problem and doesn't effect the longevity of the colour.

The packaging of this product is another plus point for me - I love the rose gold finish which looks a lot more expensive than it is. Makeup Revolution's Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer is available in 7 different shades here for a bargain price of £3.00 each.

If you want to read more about Makeup Revolution's products then I've also reviewed their lipsticks and an Acid Brights eyeshadow palette that's a budget take on Urban Decay's Electric Palette. Let me know if you've tried any of the lip lacquers or any other product in the Makeup Revolution range by tweeting me @lazydaysbeauty or leaving a comment below!

Have you tried anything from Makeup Revolution yet?

Maybelline The Falsies || Review

Maybelline The Falsies in Black Drama Maybelline The Falsies in Black Drama
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara in Black Drama - £7.99
I am a big mascara fan, I always have been every since I first started wearing makeup at secondary school. I've compared three mascaras with slightly different prices in my beauty battle post. I bought this after hearing so many good things about it so now i'm going to tell you my thoughts...

Firstly, the packaging is right up my street. Yes, it looks quite cheap but I think a lot of drugstore mascaras have similar, tacky packaging. The little lace style pattern on the lid is super girly and gives the packaging a little something extra.

The brush is slightly curved which makes it the perfect shape to coat all of the lashes. It fits perfectly under the eye so you can literally just put it underneath the lash line and wiggly those lashes, giving you a perfect coating of mascara. I chose the shade black drama which is more than dark enough for a bold, emphasised look. It gives more volume - as the name suggests - than length which is the perfect formula for me.

The main reason I love this is the fact that it doesn't clump or smudge. I often find that mascaras intended to add volume often clump but this seriously doesn't. It coats each lash whilst separating them at the same time and adding volume. It also doesn't smudge underneath the eye after several hours, which means it's perfect for day to night makeup or for a long day at work!

For £7.99 this is definitely a good mascara, it isn't my favourite but i'm still using it for everyday wear and saving my more expensive mascaras for special occasions!

Revlon Lipgloss || Review & Swatches

DSCN1157Revlon Lipgloss in Adorned
Let's just take some time to appreciate the beauty of this lipgloss. I genuinely think that this is the most beautiful shade of lipgloss I have ever owned. As soon as I saw it I knew it had to be mine, which then resulted in a month long hunt to track it down!

I'm a big fan of the Revlon Colourburst Lipglosses, the formula is really long lasting and they are so pigmented they can be worn as a lip colour on their own. These aren't your typical sticky lipglosses, instead they are hydrating and smooth on the lips. The nude, pale shades are perfect for adding a touch of gloss to a lipstick whereas the more pigmented, bright shades such as Adorned look absolutely beautiful on their own.

Unlike most lipglosses, this is really long lasting making it seem more of a lipstick than a gloss. The shade is a beautiful vibrant pink with blue undertones. I love this shade of pink as it really suits my complexion and also brightens my teeth. This colour is unlike anything I own or in fact have seen before. The doofer applicator makes it really easy to apply and with some steady hand eye coordination you can achieve a gorgeous full looking lip.

I would 100% recommend this lipgloss, especially for the Spring and Summer. It would suit any skin tone and really brightens up a plain, monochrome outfit.

Topshop Magic Liner || Review & Swatches

Topshop Magic Liner in Engraved Topshop Magic Liner in Engraved
Topshop Magic Liner - Engraved £6.50
If, like me, you love a winged liner but you're absolutely useless at doing it on your own then this post is for you! I've seen this eyeliner floating about and have always been tempted by it. The nib is super long and thin that it pretty much looks fool proof and it really is. The shape and style of the nib allows you to draw an effortless line across your lash line as thick or as thin as you want.
The colour is a really dark, opaque black. I hate eyeliners that take at least two coats to look black but this does it in one. It applies really smooth and even, meaning that you don't have to go back in for touch ups - which is usually where I mess up! This also dries really quickly so you don't have to worry about that awful black line that transfers to your eyelid the first time you blink.
Like all Topshop makeup the packaging is faultless. It's simple and elegant, yet it still looks quirky and instantly recognisable. The place where you hold the pen is cushioned making it really comfortable, especially if you know you're going to be there a while. The products is wet but not too runny meaning that it dries fast but there is also opportunity for you to remove it quickly if you make a mistake. The liner is long lasting so you don't need to worry about it sliding over your eyes whilst you're at work. If you were going from day to night makeup it would definitely need a top up though!
To get the perfect 'wing' I've started using angled post it notes at the corner of my eyes. This makes it so easy to get even flicks as you can position the post it notes exactly where you want them. I start by drawing the line across my lash line, then draw the flick. I then go back from the flick to the lash line, filling in the flick to the thickness I like. It's a really easy way to get even flicks and it definitely speeds up the process.
What's your favourite Topshop makeup item?

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer || Review & Swatches

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Shade 15

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Shade 15
I'm just going to go right ahead and declare my love for this concealer in the first sentence of my review. I'll continue by saying that this isn't anything special and i'm not really sure why it deserves such huge amount of love, but it does. It works for my skin and is my current favourite makeup product.

First off, I had to pick this up in Shade 15 which is the second lightest shade name but this is the lightest of the shades if you understand. Shade 10 is much more orange than this one and not as highlighting so if you're pale, definitely try shade 15. I picked this up a couple of weeks ago (hauled here) because i'd seen people compare it to Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and it was only £5.99! Although I haven't tried the Nars concealer, i'm not in such a huge rush simply because this is brilliant.

It's light enough to give that highlighting effect under the eye, whilst still covering the horrendous dark circles and it doesn't draw attention to spots and blemishes. This formulais something I love in concealers because nobody has time for two different concealers in the morning. It also doesn't cake or crease around the eye area or blemishes which means it lasts all day without sliding over the face and revealing those darn blemishes.

You don't need too much of this either to give you medium to full coverage. Believe it or not, i'm not a big fan of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (cue gasps of horror) I find that it looks cakey on me after a while because of how thick it is. This on the other hand is quite light and creamy - possibly where the comparisons to the Nars concealer comes from - and blends like a dream, both with fingers and a brush.

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about this concealer if you hadn't already guessed. This is quite easily my favourite drugstore concealer of the moment and I'll definitely be repurchasing this once it runs out. If you're looking for a medium/high coverage concealer which highlights and conceals in the right amount, than this is for you!

Top 5 Spring Lipsticks || Review & Swatches

DSCN1143 DSCN1145 DSCN1399
Revlon Matte Balm in Elusive Mac Lipstick in Lovelorn Topshop Lipstick in Macaroon Soap and Glory Lipstick in The Missing Pink and Mac Lipstick in Vegas Volt

Spring is the time to bring out the bright lips, I've moved away from the deep berries and the pale nudes and i'm embracing the pinks and the corals for a more Spring appropriate look. I've chosen my top five lipsticks today and in another post i'll share with you my top five lipglosses for Spring.

First up, Revlon's Matte Balm in Elusive (RRP: £7.99) this is a gorgeous matte pink that can be built up for a brighter look or worn quite sheer for the perfect day time finish. This is the only matte shade out of the bunch because I prefer a glossier look for Spring but with some exfoliation and lip balm this leaves a really flawless look. Next is the first of my Mac lipsticks for Spring in the shade Lovelorn (RPP: £15) (you can see my collection here). This again is a subtle Barbie pink. It's brighter than Elusive without it being in your face. I like this for work during the Spring, the colour really suits my skin tone. This is a Lustre finish which is creamy and glossy on the lips, perfect finish for Spring.

Then we have my newest addition to my Lipstick collection (hauled here) which is Macaroon by Topshop (RPP: £8). This is a gorgeous pink, coral shade which again can be built up to be a bright colour or worn sheer for a more subtle look. This looks a bit patchy when you first apply it so I blot the first coat and go in with a second which leaves a much nicer, flake free finish. This next lipstick is influenced by the lovely Fleur who I've seen talk about this loads. It's the Soap & Glory lipstick in The Missing Pink (RRP: £9). This is the most subtle of the five shades, a more nude colour than pink. What I love about this is the colour when it's on the lips, honestly it doesn't look brilliant in the bullet but once applied it leaves the glossiest finish. The nude colour is a 'your lips but better' shade and the packaging is just gorgeous.

Finally, another Mac lipstick this time in Vegas Volt (RRP: £15) a coral, orange shade which is pretty bright. This is an amplified finish which is super creamy and long lasting. I think this suits all skin tones, I'm really pale and my mum is a lot darker then me and we both have it. This is the perfect shade to take you right through Spring and Summer and I wore it so much last year. Shades like this are really worth investing in as they last so long.

What shades are you loving for Spring?
