The Christmas Tag

As it's only 13 days till Christmas (eeeeek) I thought it was about time I completed the Christmas tag. I love everything Christmassy and now seems like the perfect time to do this as uni is just about finished for the year and i'm nearly finished my shopping!

What time of the year do you start your Christmas shopping?
I normally don't start until around the end of November, beginning of December but this year I was very prepared and started in October. I've found that by starting early i've saved so much money as a lot of things were on sale earlier in the year and in December they're almost double the price.

Do you have any festive recipes for food or drink you limit solely to the Christmas season to share?
I'm not really into baking as much as I would like to, I get bored way to easily but I think my sister and I are going to make and decorate some christmas cookies this weekend and I also really want to make some gingerbread houses we can decorate.

Tell me how Christmas goes down in your home.
Christmas eve starts the festive feel off in my house, we usually go to the pub and have a few drinks and then go bowling with our friends or order a nice takeaway at one of our houses which is lovely. Then when it comes to bed time, my sister and I always share a room on Christmas eve, I can never, ever sleep so i'm always up pretty early. We arrange a time that we can get up the night before (yes I am 20 and my sister is 23, ha) and then we knock for our parents. We go down the stairs, my dad first to check if he's been obviously and then we all rush in. Drinks are usually made and then we take it in turns to open our presents from Santa and those under the tree. We then get dressed and have a 'play' on our new presents and then wander to the pub for a few drinks. My mum cooks the dinner and we all sit round for lunch when the boyfriend arrives and then we'll either go back to my boyfriends house or stay at my house and settle in watching christmas tv.

Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Er, we don't have any proper traditions but we usually set our presents out the same, my sister and I have our own sofa's for presents so we keep them the same over Christmas. We also always put the tree up together with my mum too which is a nice little tradition.

Do you have a favourite festive coffee?
I don't drink coffee unfortunately but I don't mind a nice hot chocolate once in a while. Costa's white hot chocolate is delicious this year and I love their christmas cups.

What's your favourite Christmas song?
I have too many. I love fairy tale of New York like most people but I pretty much like them all. Michael Buble's christmas album is a favourite of mine too.

What do you do on Christmas Eve?

Er, I don't really do anything on the day. Usually watch films and make sure the house is all ready for Christmas and then in the evening we usually get together with some friends and go bowling or order a nice takeaway.

What's your Christmas wrapping strategy? Do you have a strategy?

I love the idea of wrapping but I usually end up getting pretty bored. I'm also really bad at wrapping so I like to watch my sister and pick up little tips and tricks. I actually need to start my wrapping pretty soon.

What's your dream gift this year?

I've asked for lots of make-upy bits this year which i'm pretty darn excited about. My lovely boyfriend has also bought me a new camera :D i'm so excited to use it for blogging, I really cannot wait.

Describe your Christmas tree. How tall? Real or artificial? How is it decorated?

The family christmas tree is a 6ft, artificial one which already comes with lights. It's decorated with gold and brown baubles which look lovely. My mum is OCD with the tree so it's decorated beautifully.

Do you decorate just the tree or other areas of your house e.g. windows, banisters?

We have the christmas tree in the living room and other festive decorations in the living room such as a Father Christmas, a snowman and a penguin on the fire place but the other rooms in the house usually aren't decorated. We have lights outside and a gorgeous wreath on the door too.

What do you wear to Christmas parties and what do you wear on Christmas day?

I tend to get new clothes on Christmas day so i'll probably be wearing those this Christmas day and for Christmas parties I like sequin dresses or anything remotely festive. I love dressing up but I definitely make more of an effort with my makeup at Christmas, especially a bold lip.
